Title:               Fine Arts Teacher (Part-Time)
Year:              2025 -2026 School Year – Spring Semester

Supervisor:    Principal and Dean of the Fine Arts Department

The part-time position includes duties as classroom teacher for Sculpture 2 and Painting. The teacher will be a Fine Arts curriculum owner, and active contributor to the overall growth of students at St. Thomas High School.

Required Experience and Characteristics
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or above
  • Has a minimum 24 hours of college level art course work on transcript
  • Has a State of Texas teaching certificate or has completed a minimum of 12 graduate level education courses at an accredited university
  • Possess highly effective classroom management and time management skills
  • Embrace classroom technology and use it as a tool for learning (Microsoft products, Google apps and classroom functionality such as Blackbaud or other interactive white boards).
  • Create and timely posts robust lesson plans which align with curriculum, instruction and assessment, and integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Provide feedback and assessment grading to students within the time frame set forth by the department.
  • Use instructional time efficiently and effectively.
  • Willing to be reflective and to work collaboratively
  • Eager to embrace new challenges
  • Work collaboratively with your Deans and department Professional Learning Community (PLC) to build curriculum, create assessments, review best practices, and create clear daily goals for academic instruction
  • Willing to coach and to be coached
  • Openly enthusiastic and optimistic

Preferred Experience:
  • Holds a graduate degree in fine arts or education
  • Has prior teaching experience at high school or college level

This Position
  • Receives immediate support from the Dean of the Fine Arts Department at St. Thomas High School and school wide organizational support from the Instructional Leadership Team at St. Thomas High School.
  • The part-time sections are taught every other class day as part of a block schedule.

  1. Teach 2 sections of art courses in a Catholic college preparatory environment.
  2. Actively pursue professional growth and continually strive to improve curriculum and instruction.
  3. Willingly take on responsibilities above and beyond classroom duties.
  4. Cheerfully perform duties required of all faculty members as outlined in employment contract.
